Mary Jo Ketter, 76, of Safety Harbor, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on May 5, 1949, in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, Mary Jo was the beloved daughter of the late Marjorie and James Ketter. In 1981, she and her family made the move to Florida, drawn by the promise of sunshine and new beginnings, a place she would proudly call home for the rest of her life.

Mary Jo dedicated 38 years of her life to caring for others as a nurse at Comprehensive Health Care in Clearwater, where she served in the skilled nursing unit. Nursing was more than a profession to her; it was a calling. She gave her patients not only skilled, attentive care, but also compassion, dignity, and kindness. Her gentle spirit and unwavering dedication touched countless lives, and she will be remembered as a nurse who truly embodied love and care in every sense.

Outside of her work, Mary Jo found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved relaxing with her favorite shows on the Hallmark Channel, watching Matlock, and, most of all, spending cherished time with her family. Her warmth, quiet strength, and loving presence were the heart of every gathering.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Stoffel; her beloved son, James F. “Jimmer” Stoffel; and her brother, Rick Ketter.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward: her children, Tiffany (Jon Mott) Stoffel and Sean (Stephanie) Stoffel; her brother, Ken (Margie) Ketter; her cherished grandchildren, Andrew “Drew” Avery, Kimberly Brown, Max Stoffel, Kassidy Stoffel, Zachary Stoffel, Lex Stoffel, and Luke Mott; four great-grandchildren, Kinley, Dakota, Harry, Gray; her sister-in-law, Julie Ketter; daughter-in-law Tina Stoffel; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Mary Jo’s life was a testament to compassion, devotion, and quiet grace. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 2675 Tampa Road, Palm Harbor, Florida 34684, in honor of the care and comfort they provide to others in need.
