Margaret Helen (Ackerly) Nonestied
November 15, 1947 – August 07, 2026
Margaret began her career life in Harrisonburg Va, after living in New Jersey. She was a librarian for 30 years at Carrier Arts & Music Library at James Madison University.
She transitioned to Fond Du Lac after early retirement and was an integral part of the inaugural launch of ‘Fishing has no boundaries’. She was also a journalist for the Reporter and worked at the FDL Public Library.
Margaret was a kind soul, a polite person, a genteel woman and a devout Christian. She was a caring individual with good friendship skills, no ‘sharp edges’ and no discouraging behavior.
She entered this world and lived her life with style and grace. She departed this world at noon on Aug. 7th with the same style and grace. Leaving no ‘debris’. Displaying no ‘drama’, just memories of a life well lived. Margaret Helen Ackerly was a class act!
Margaret (Ackerly) Nonestied
was lifted from Harbor Haven memory care unit,
by the hands of God at 12:00 pm on August 7th 2026.
While the radio in the background softly played
“American Pie” by Don McLean
Knew girl way back when, all freckles and glasses.
We each were 14 and shared the same classes
We’d smile now and then after math in the hall.
Just friend you see….Just buddies…. That’s all.
Don’t know how it happened, after school we’re alone.
I carried her books and walked with her home.
She was funny and fun and exceptionally smart
I left her at her door and she left with my heart
At first, I wasn’t aware it was missing.
We hadn’t held hands, we hadn’t been kissing.
She just was a buddy! Just one of the guys!
Just a little bit cuter, with real pretty eyes!
A long time has passed in her and my life.
Now that cute girl next door has become my wife.
I carry her groceries instead of her books.
She’s still smart and fun with real pretty looks.
We have hassles and cares but we get past them all.
Still smile at each other when we pass down the hall.
We’re not going to class, just down to the toilet.
But that doesn’t matter and that doesn’t spoil it.
I’ll love her madly till I’m and old fuddy duddy.
She was, way back when and still is my buddy.
