Kathleen A. Armfield

April 12, 1956 — September 17, 2025

Eden

Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Armfield (née Braatz), age 69, of Sun Prairie, WI, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, surrounded by her family, after facing cancer with grace, courage, and unwavering love.

Kathy was born on April 12, 1956, in Fond du Lac, WI, to Edward Sr. and Alice Braatz. She was a proud graduate of Campbellsport High School, Class of 1974. She was previously married to Gerald Armfield for 33 years, sharing many meaningful chapters of life together.

Kathy’s happiest moments were spent with those she loved most, especially her grandchildren. She delighted in spoiling them, keeping the candy drawer well-stocked and sharing with them the important duty of feeding her goldfish. Whether playing board games, vacationing with siblings and children, or spending time on the farm with her mom, Kathy cherished every moment surrounded by family.

She played cards weekly with her mom and a rotating cast of friends and family, gatherings that were as competitive as they were full of laughter. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler, always up for friendly competition, though mostly there for the joy of socializing.

Kathy dedicated over 40 years to Mid States Aluminum, where she worked as a Quality Technician. She formed many close friendships and was well-loved for her warm personality and friendly nature. After retiring, she stayed connected with many of her coworkers, often enjoying lively girls’ nights out filled with laughter and good company.

Her love for life shone through in the little things, from singing her favorite karaoke song, These Boots Are Made for Walkin’, to dancing whenever music played and sharing stories with friends at the Empire Social Club. Her spirit lit up every room, and the memories she created with family and friends will be treasured forever.

Kathy is survived by her loving mother, Alice Braatz; her daughters, Marie (Jon) Andrae and Amanda (José) Bocanegra; and her cherished grandchildren, Miles, Kira, Charlie, and Alice. She is further survived by her siblings, Greg (Donna) Braatz, Betty (Bob) Koenigs, John Braatz, Bob Braatz, Ed (Jackie) Braatz Jr., and Kevin (Kim) Braatz, along with 17 nieces and nephews and their children, all of whom she adored. Kathy will also be deeply missed by many special friends and extended family members, too numerous to name, who brought joy to her life and shared in her love and laughter.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Edward Braatz, Sr., and her sister-in-law, Deborah Braatz.
