John Fredrick Putz, 79, devoted husband, father and grandfather of Campbellsport, WI was called to the Lord on September 26, 2026 at home with his loving family at his side. John was born on Aug 1. 1947 in Baraboo, WI. Son of the late Frederick William and Gladys (Repka) Putz. John attended St. John’s Lutheran and later graduated from Baraboo High School. On October 17, 1970 John married the love of his life at St. John Lutheran Church in Baraboo and they were blessed with 4 children.

John proudly served the United States in the Navy for 23 years. Trained as a Communications Technician, he was active in Okinawa and retired from the Naval Reserves in 1989. He was a career Lineman for Ameritech and retired after 30 years. John and Sandi then traveled the United States with their beloved cats for 18 years with their own Trucking company S&J Trucking.

John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting, camping and canoeing with his family and friends. He spent many years educating youth as a Leader for the St. John’s Lutheran Rangers and the Boy Scouts. He also enjoyed riding in the wind on his Harley with many memorable trips with Sandi to Sturgis.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years Sandi (Swanson), children Derek (Dorothy) Putz of Shawano, Shaun Putz of Campbellsport, and Jared (Amanda) Putz of Holland, MI; grandchildren Corbin (Claire) Putz, Baelyan (Makayla) Putz, Jayden Hoag, Ava Dorr, Crimson Smith, Hoahlee Smith, Halo Smith; brother James Putz; nieces and nephews Devra (James) Dorner, Chandra, Alyssa, Brianna and Timothy (Deb) Putz. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Glady Putz , daughter Tanya Kim Putz, sister Sharon Domboski and his in-laws Herbert and Norma Swanson.

A Christian Funeral service for John will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 350 Helena St. Campbellsport, WI with reverend Paul Cerny officiating. Burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend WI. Full military rites will be held.

Visitation will be Wednesday October 7, 2026 from 9:30am until the time of the service at the church.
