John H. Kleinke

John H. Kleinke, age 77, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born November 13, 1948, in Fond du Lac, he was the son of Wilbur and Marie (Oppermann) Kleinke. On October 27, 1974, he married Diane (Purgett) Neitzel, and together they built a life.

John enjoyed a long career with A.O. Smith in Milwaukee before retiring. He was an avid softball player who loved taking the mound and helping his teams to deliver many memorable victories. He also cherished his annual ice fishing trips with close friends—days filled with cold air, good conversation, and plenty of laughs. Friends still remember John as the life of the party on those trips, always quick with a joke and full of good humor.

Friends and family remember John for his easygoing nature and the way he made people feel welcome. Whether playing ball, sitting on the ice, or just sharing a beer, his kindness, easy smile, and generous spirit made him the kind of guy people just liked being around.

He is survived by his children: Jolyn Kyler, Michael (Michelle) Kleinke, and Timothy Kleinke; his siblings, James (Dianne) Kleinke and Welda (George) Simousek; his step-children Roberta (Gene) Krueger, Charles Neitzel, and Dennise (Donald) Lavrenz; and many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry his memory forward.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Marie Kleinke; his beloved wife, Diane Kleinke; his step-children Shawn and Tracy Neitzel, and his brother, Jerry Kleinke.

Private services will be held for the family at St. John's Lutheran Church – New Fane.
