Gary Lee Rumbuc

April 8, 1949 — May 24, 2025

Gary Lee Rumbuc April 8, 1949 – May 24, 2025 Gary Lee Rumbuc, age 76, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. A creative soul with a sharp memory and a generous heart, Gary lived life on his own terms — full of big ideas and plenty of laughter along the way.

Born on April 8, 1949, Gary was a natural entrepreneur and innovator. From the 1980s through the 2010s, “Rummy” as he was known, owned and operated four bars and nightclubs in the Fond du Lac area. Always ahead of his time, he introduced exciting, new concepts to the local nightlife scene.

Gary was also incredibly mechanically inclined. He could fix just about anything, especially when it came to vehicles. His deep knowledge of engines and machines extended to a beloved collection of antique tractors.

One of Gary’s most endearing qualities was his love of giving. He found joy in buying gifts for the people he cared about. Whether it was something practical or purely fun, he loved the happiness that came from giving.

But more than anything, Gary was known for his sense of humor and silly wit. He had many “funny bones,” and he never missed a chance to share a clever remark or a mischievous smile.

To Lynn, Gary was a devoted and loving partner - kind, generous and supportive. He brought joy to their life together with his humor and ability to find laughter in their many adventures.

To his grandchildren, Gary was lovingly known as “Grumpa”—a nickname that perfectly captured his playful gruffness and affectionate nature. He loved giving hugs!

His daughter, Nicole, will never forget the memory of their goodbye waves until out of sight — a quiet tradition each time they parted ways, and a small ritual that meant the world.

Gary is survived by his loving partner, Lynn Marquardt; his daughter, Nicole Schauer; son-in-law, Joe Schauer; and his cherished grandchildren, Neve, Niah, and John Schauer.

Gary's legacy lives on in the laughter he shared, the memories he helped create, and the lives he touched through his warmth, humor, generosity, and tireless imagination.
