Elmer C. Miritz, 76, of the Town of Empire passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fond du Lac on August 11, 1945, the son of the late Oscar and Geraldine (nee Immel) Miritz. Elmer was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. On August 16, 1980, Elmer married Elizabeth Schraufnagel at St. Patrick’s Church in Fond du Lac. He operated the family farm in the Town of Empire and he also drove truck for many years finishing his career with Tom Ottery Transportation. He was a member of the Empire Threshing Association and the NRA. Elmer enjoyed driving his gator, bulldozer and excavator; and playing with his dogs and 8 ponds. He was a hardworking man who loved farming and ice cream.
Survivors include his son Joseph (special friend Deanna Sterman) Miritz, his daughter Shauna (Andrew) Bowe and their sons Henry and Jack, his former wife Elizabeth Miritz, his brother Clarence “Butch” Miritz, his sisters Betty Schnettler and Nancy (special friend Larry Indermuehle) Zimmerman, his nephews and nieces Scott (Trish) Schnettler, Steve (Shelly) Zimmerman, Rick (Jenny) Miritz, Kristi Serwe, Katie (Aric) Hamburg and Sherri Zimmerman, his dog Rex, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, November 26 th from 9:00 to 11:30 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1600 S. Main St, Fond du Lac.
A funeral service will be Friday, November 26 th at 11:30 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Zuberbier officiating. Cremation will follow the traditional service.
