With heavy hearts we share the loss of a devoted mother and her beloved daughter: Debra “Debbie” Ann Lucas (1/4/1962 – 5/15/2025, age 63) and Jessica “Jessie” Ann Lucas (5/16/1988 – 4/14/2025, age 36).

Debbie was admired for being a strong, humble, witty, resilient, loving mother, devoted wife, and a passionate gardener. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her two daughters. Debbie dabbled in the creatives, making craft projects and lawn art decor to compliment her home garden. She enjoyed rock music and cherished taking gambling trips with her husband to North Star, where they shared many joyful moments playing the slot machines. Ever frugal, she only went when funds allowed, making each trip a special and memorable occasion filled with laughter and love. She loved her late dog companions, Buttons, Buddy, and Pooch. Debbie was the glue of her family, especially during hardships. Before retirement she worked at Shopko as a Receiver Clerk for 27 years, where she made many friends. In light of Jessica’s cancer diagnosis, Debbie devoted herself completely to caring for her, remaining by her side around the clock. In Jessica’s final days, she made the difficult decision to bring in in-home hospice care, a testament to her deep love and unwavering commitment during such a challenging time.

Jessie was deeply respected as a selfless caregiver, who was devoted, supportive, and reliable to all those lucky to meet her. Jessica was a night owl and the tech-savvy member of the family, always ready to lend a hand with any technology-related issue. Whether it was troubleshooting a complex problem or something as simple as restarting the router, she was patient, knowledgeable, and always willing to help those less familiar with technology. She enjoyed thrifting, online shopping, music festivals, watching old movies, reading, organization, and interior design. Jessie had an impressive and eclectic taste in music, often introducing family and friends to new artists and genres. Her love for music was a reflection of her vibrant spirit and unique personality. After studying at Marquette University and UW-Milwaukee, she worked as a CNA for ten years at Cedar Community in West Bend, until her cancer diagnosis this past January.

They are reunited.

They are lovingly remembered by Jan Lucas, Nicole Lucas, Diane Bruendl, Kristine Bruendl, John Bruendl, and surviving members of the Larsen, Bruendl, Theisen, Ernisse, Bertrum, Tadych, Lucas, and Scheid families.
