Arnold August Gudex passed peacefully from this world in the early morning of January 4, 2026. With perseverance and ingenuity, he along with his family built a dairy farm along the Milwaukee River often making something out of seemingly nothing. Arnold diligently followed world politics, weaving a historical perspective into his letters to the editor and protest signs on peace, farm and social justice issues. He had a strong sense of curiosity for both local adventures and also traveled to East Germany with Alice and to Cuba. Through his long life, he accumulated and shared a wealth of stories and advice, usually giving a positive approach to any problem and issue.
Arnold was born on September 22, 1931 to Leonard and Ida (Schlueter) Gudex at home in Campbellsport, WI. He enjoyed polka dances where he met Alice (nee Gronemeyer). They married on November 13, 1954, and together they shared their Depression baby ways with six children, Robert (Debra), Donna (David) Gudex-Kamrath, Nancy (Robert Stemberger), William, Norbert and Linda (Yoshi Akimoto). They treasured their grandchildren Kristin (Charlie) Jones and Kevin, Anna and Sara (Lennart Kreckel), and Mona, Nina and Ohki.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice just four months prior and brothers, David (Hazel), Eugene (Bertha) and Harold (Lila), brothers and sisters in law, Margaret (Marvin) Zander, Elmer (Teresa) Gronemeyer, Kenneth and Esther Gronemeyer, and nephews Loran, Matthew and Karl. He is survived by many special nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the Eden Fire Department and Campbellsport ambulance, as well as St. Agnes 6th floor for their care along with neighbors and friends.
