Arlene Rose Fritsche of Campbellsport went home to Jesus on November 22, 2025 at Copperstone Assisted Living in Neenah. She was born in August of 1936 to Andrew and Theresa Osenga. She was the youngest of four children.
Arlene spent her early years on her parents farm in Arpin Wi. Her Dutch independence and feistyness showed up early, as she was constantly getting into trouble sneaking into the barn to pet the draft horses and reprimand the bull.
Arlene attended Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. A year after graduation she caught the eye of a young man just out of the Navy. Jerry would soon become her husband of 35 years.
Soon afterwards they decided to grow their family. Daughters Sonja and Kim made their family complete.
Arlene was a busy person, first working as a typist for the Lake Country Reporter in Heartland. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and in this group found many of her best and closest friends. She was always ready to lend a hand, donate time or host a party. Her infectious laugh could be heard any time she was enjoying life.
Arlene and her husband moved to Campbellsport in 1975 and became owners of Fritsche's Liquor Store. Arlene worked as a secretary at Campbellsport High School for a year then left to run the store. She was a favorite of the kids at school, many coming in to just talk or ask advice. The word “can't “ was not in her vocabulary and she made it a point to tell her daughters and many high school kids that “You can do anything you put your mind to, don't let anyone say you can't “.
After they sold the liquor store Arlene worked for Farm Credit Services in Fond du Lac where she retired after 20 years. After her husband died she added in part time work at Target. She was able to single handedly pay off their new home.
Arlene enjoyed bowling, always having a great time with her team mates and making many close friends in the process. In later years she loved going to the local gym and exercising “with the gals”
Music was a huge part of who Arlene was. She always had records playing or the radio on so she could sing along. She loved singing in the Christmas Cantata annually. This is a memory her daughters cherish, as the home was never without music.
Arlene could often be seen on her riding mower doing yard work as well as walking in the area around their home.
Arlene's greatest love was her children and especially her grandchildren. The grands loved her energy, sense of humor, how they could always sneak up on her to startle her just to hear her yell in surprise, and of course, her cookies. Grandma always had cookies in the cookie tub in the cupboard, and that was often the first stop not only for the grandkids but also her son's in laws when they came to visit.
Arlene will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was proceeded in death by her husband and love Jerry, granddaughter Caylee Covington, brothers George, Henry and sister Angeline as well as many in laws (and out laws) and friends.
Surviving her and missing her independence, laughter and love are her daughters Sonja (Tim) Covington, Kim (Scott) Krukow; Grandchildren Kele Covington and Melanie Krukow.
Her family would like to extend their deepest thanks and love to the staff at Copperstone Assisted Living in Neenah: Arlene loved you guys and you were a caring extended family. A big thank you to Moments Hospice: Kaitlyn, Quinta and Chaplains Isaiah and Josh. To Arlene's friends, former co-workers and anyone she may have known along her journey: she enjoyed each and every one of you.
A private burial ceremony at Union Cemetery in Campbellsport will occur with a Celebration of Life to follow later. Of course there will be music, dancing and lots of laughter as Arlene would have loved.
The Family asks that any donations please be made in Arlene's name to the Fond Du Lac Humane Society 652 Triangle Rd. Fond du Lac Wi 54935. She absolutely loved her cats, dogs and “her” wild birds.
“Live full and don't die empty. That's the goal of life. Go to the cemetery and disappoint the graveyard”
