Alice Grace Gudex passed peacefully from this world in the evening of September 2, 2025. She will be remembered by many for her deep care for family, friends and neighbors, gardening, delivering eggs and dairy farming. Her kitchen was filled with the aromas of fresh-baked bread and the simplest and most wholesome meat-and-potato meals as well as frequent visitors.
Alice was born on October 3, 1935, to William and Louise (Just) Gronemeyer at home in Richfield, WI. She had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed polka dances, where she met Arnold Gudex, who she married on November 13, 1954. Together they shared their Depression baby ways with six children, Robert (Debra), Donna (David) Gudex-Kamrath, Nancy (Robert Stemberger), William, Norbert, and Linda (Yoshi Akimoto). They treasured their grandchildren, Kristin (Charlie) Jones and Kevin, Anna and Sara (Lennart Kreckel), and Mona, Nina, and Ohki. She traveled to East Germany with Arnold and picked up a few Japanese words.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret (Marvin), Elmer (Teresa), Kenneth and Esther and brothers-in-law, David (Hazel), Eugene (Bertha) and Harold (Lila) and nephews Loran and Matthew. She is survived by many special nieces and nephews and her dear high school friend Elaine.
