Obituary

Alan M. Erickson, 78, of the Town of Osceola went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at SSM St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born on March 27, 1948 in Phillips WI, the son of Iver and Rosemarie (nee Gehring) Erickson.

On July 17, 1971, Al was united in marriage to Patricia “Trish” A. Vanden Boogard at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. Al was a graduate of UW-Oshkosh and became a teacher in Johnsburg WI where he also coached basketball for two years. He then started in the insurance industry as an agent in 1973 working for Rural Insurance where he was still assisting his longtime clients part time at the time of his death. Al also held CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) designations throughout his career.

Al was an avid outdoors man enjoying hunting and fishing. Al told many stories about his hunting trips to South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Alaska, but some of his most precious memories came from the annual hunting trips to his cabin with his children, grandchildren, son-in-law, brother, brothers-in law, nephew, father-in-law and many friends over the years. He also took an annual trip to Lake Erie where he loved to catch big walleyes as well as spend time with family and friends. He and Trish enjoyed traveling together with many memorable trips to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and their yearly trips to Florida where Al enjoyed spending time with his family and doing some fishing. Most important to Al was the special time that he spent with his family doing all the things he loved.

Survivors include the love of his life Trish, children Michelle (Brian) Behnke, Curtis (Joleen) Erickson, and Craig (significant other Traci) Erickson, grandchildren Nicholas (fiancée Delaney) Behnke, Jayden Behnke and Johnathon Erickson, sisters Barbara (Charles) Poch and Pamela James (Martingilio), brother Terrance (Barbara) Erickson, sisters-in-law Judy (Dave) Delain and Anne Westbrook, brothers-in-law Mark (Susan) Vanden Boogard, John “Rocky” (Mary) Vanden Boogard, and Daniel (DeeDee) Vanden Boogard, special loved ones Jacob (Aggie) Zivkovich and Anna (Zach) Dahm, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Al was preceded in death by his parents Iver and Rosemarie, parents-in-law Joseph and Mary Vanden Boogard and his brothers-in-law Rick Martingilio, James Vanden Boogard, and Paul Vanden Boogard.

Visitation for Al will be Tuesday, October 6th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 County Road B, Eden.

A Liturgy of the Word will follow at 1:00 pm at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Jones officiating and burial at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Armstrong.
