He lived life on his own terms, stayed true to himself, and made the most of every day.

Alan “Big Al” Immel, 70, of Dotyville, passed away on October 21, 2026, after sustaining injuries in an ATV accident. Born on June 1, 1956, he was the son of Maurice and Arlene (Walters) Immel. He graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1974. On February 26, 1976 he married the love of his life Ann Hettwer, whom he called Annie, at St. Michael’s in Dotyville.

Al worked as a journeyman maintenance electrician at International Paper for 43 years before retiring on June 1, 2017. A hard worker by nature, retirement never meant slowing down for Al. He was happiest when he had something to do, something to fix, or a new project to tackle. If it was broken, he could fix it. If it needed building, he could build it. You could often find him in his shop, working on his latest project. There wasn’t much Al couldn’t figure out, and he was always ready to help anyone who needed him.

An avid outdoorsman, Al loved deer and turkey hunting, trapping, fishing, and trap shooting. He enjoyed cutting wood, snowmobiling, and riding his ATV and UTV. He also put more than 100,000 miles on his Harley, exploring the open road and enjoying the freedom of the ride. When he wasn't outdoors or busy in his shop, he could often be found shooting pool or playing cards. Al was always up for a good time and knew how to enjoy himself. Al was a past president of both the Dotyville Hunting and Fishing Club and the Dotyville Drifters Snowmobile Club. He was happiest when he was busy, spending time with good people, and enjoying whatever adventure came his way. He lived life on his own terms, stayed true to himself, and made the most of every day.

Above all, Al loved his wife, family, and friends. He showed that love by being there, lending a hand, sharing a laugh, and making memories along the way. Whether working on a project, heading out on an adventure, or gathering around a table for cards, Al brought his own unmistakable spirit to everything he did. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, a lot of things built and fixed, and countless memories that will keep his larger-than-life presence alive. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
